"I’m kicking off my first mobile project and need a working Android application that I can study and extend. The goal is a clean, well-commented starter codebase built in Android Studio. Kotlin is preferred, but Java is acceptable.

Scope
• Create a basic two-screen app: a “Hello” home screen and a second screen that fetches and displays sample JSON from any public API.
• Apply current best practices (Jetpack, MVVM/ViewModel, XML or Compose layouts—your call).
• Include sensible error handling and a tidy folder structure so I can see where to add future features.

Deliverables
• Full Android Studio project with source code.
• README explaining project setup, build steps, and where key logic lives.
• Inline comments that highlight areas I’m likely to modify.
• A short screen-capture or annotated screenshots showing the build/run process.

Send the code via a private Git repo invite or a ZIP archive. No backend work is required for now; a free placeholder API is fine. If this starter build comes together smoothly, there’s potential for follow-up enhancements." (client-provided description)
