Title: Android Home Screen Widget For Rotating Ads (Pull Images From My Website)

Project Description:
I am looking for an experienced Android developer to create a simple but professional home screen widget that displays rotating advertisement images pulled from my website.

Goal / How it should work (User side):

Users install my app + widget from the Play Store.

They can add the widget to their home screen.

The widget automatically:

Displays an image (advertisement) that I upload on my website.

Rotates through multiple images if more than one ad is live.


When the user taps on the widget image:

It opens a specific link/URL in the browser (each ad will have its own link).



Admin / My Side (Very Important):

I need to control everything from my website, not from each phone.

Every time I upload a new campaign/ad on my website:

The widget on all users’ phones should update automatically.


You can use:

A simple JSON or XML feed, or

A REST API endpoint (I can have my web developer set this up),

Or directly from a folder/URL where banners + links are defined.


Each ad should include:

Image URL

Click-through URL

(Optional later) Start/end date, priority, etc.



Technical Requirements:

Native Android (Kotlin or Java).

Home screen widget compatible with modern Android versions.

Efficient image loading and caching (e.g. Coil/Glide/Picasso).

Periodic refresh (e.g. every X minutes/hours) + manual refresh logic that:

Avoids battery drain and respects Android background limits.


Handle:

No internet → show last cached ad.

No data from server → show default fallback image.


Clean, minimal widget design:

Full image, no ugly borders.

Resizable widget if possible.


Code must be:

Documented

Provided fully to me at the end (no locked libraries).
