Project description:
"I own an older Windows desktop application that saves its downloaded content in several local SQLite database files. Some of the columns are clearly encrypted and unusable in their current state. The original source code is unavailable, so the only viable path is to reverse-engineer the compiled binaries, locate the hard-coded encryption key (or routine), and use it for a one-time decryption of the existing data.
I can supply:
• the latest Windows executables
• sample SQLite databases showing the encrypted columns
What I need back:
• the discovered key or algorithm details (AES, XOR, custom, etc.)
• a small proof-of-concept script or command-line tool that takes one of my .sqlite files and outputs a fully decrypted copy
• short notes explaining any assumptions or limitations, so I can repeat the process if I ever reinstall the app on the same version
Standard reversing tools such as Ghidra, IDA, Hopper, Frida, or Radare2 are perfectly fine—use whatever gets the job done efficiently. This is strictly a one-time exercise; there’s no requirement to build a persistent monitoring or auto-decrypt feature.
If you’re confident tackling binaries and comfortable digging into SQLite file structures, this task should be straightforward." (client-provided description)
