Budget: Recommended by industry experts

Time to start: As soon as possible

Project description:
"I need a fully-fledged website—front-end and back-end—that lets me publish research papers in a safe, scalable, and maintainable way. The core workflow is simple: I (or another administrator) upload a PDF or rich-text research article from the admin dashboard, fill in its metadata (title, authors, abstract, keywords, thumbnail), hit “publish,” and the piece instantly appears in a featured grid on the home page. Authors themselves never touch the CMS; publication authority stays strictly with Admin.

Role structure must be baked in from day one:
• Admin: full control—create, edit, publish, delete.
• Editors: curate drafts, propose revisions, but cannot push content live.
• Viewers: browse, search, download, comment/like (optional, but keep hooks ready).

Security and integrity are non-negotiable. Please harden log-in flows with modern best practices—hashed passwords, rate limiting, CSRF and XSS protection, plus SSL everywhere. Database queries should use prepared statements/ORM to prevent injection attacks, and file uploads need MIME/type checks as well as antivirus scanning.

The stack is your call—Laravel, Django, Node/Express, or another mainstream framework—so long as it’s actively maintained and production-ready. A responsive front-end (React, Vue, or vanilla HTML/CSS with a lightweight JS layer) must load quickly on both desktop and mobile, and the design should highlight the latest papers prominently on the home page.

Key deliverables:
1. Role-based authentication and authorization.
2. Article upload module with metadata fields, file storage, and version control.
3. Home page feed that auto-lists newly published research papers in reverse chronological order.
4. Search and category filters so viewers can find work by subject, author, or date.
5. Robust admin dashboard (CRUD for papers, users, categories, and site settings).
6. Security hardening and documentation of measures taken.
7. Installation guide plus a brief video or screenshot walk-through so I can replicate the setup on my server.

Timeline: I need a working MVP ASAP, so please outline how quickly you can deliver each milestone and which pieces you will prioritize first. Code quality, clear comments, and clean commit history are must-haves because this project will grow over time. If you have live examples or GitHub repos that prove you’ve built secure publishing sites before, sharing them will speed up the decision." (client-provided description)
