"I will buy a mini-laser engraver, and I want to engrave ONLY dog tags with it. I therefore need a custom driver that plugs straight into Windows, recognises the engraver as a device, and lets me feed it a line of text that is automatically cropped, resized and positioned to the exact dog-tag area (roughly 50 × 28 mm).
An image of the kind of engraver is attached. I can use any kind of laser. Image is omly illustrative.

Core scope
The software only needs to engrave a single line of text (the dog´s name), convert it to the engraver’s command set (the controller speaks standard GRBL-style G-code), then stream those commands over USB. Precision is critical—each job is identical in size and offset—so the workspace coordinates must be locked and repeatable.

Laser-power and feed-rate tuning are nice to have for later, but for this first milestone the priority is flawless image processing and area restriction under Windows 10/11, with a clean, minimal interface that can be called from other design tools or run as a standalone utility.
