Project description:
"Hiring: WordPress Developer for WPForms Custom Coding (Sequential Entry ID and Login Restriction)
I am seeking an experienced WordPress developer with strong PHP and WPForms customization skills to implement custom functionality on an existing site.
Project Requirements (Technical Details Included)
1. Add a 4-Digit Sequential ID to Each WPForms Submission
I need custom code that will:
Generate a unique 4-digit sequential number (example: 0001 → 0002 → 0003, continuing indefinitely).
Store the number as a custom entry meta field using WPForms hooks.
Ensure the numbering continues even if entries are deleted.
Ensure persistence across caching, backups, or server restarts.
Preferred approach:
Use the WordPress Options API (get_option(), update_option()) or a dedicated, lightweight custom database table to store and increment the counter.
Avoid race conditions when multiple submissions occur at the same time (atomic update or locking best practices).
Ensure all code is compatible with future WPForms updates.
Relevant WPForms hooks/methods the developer should be comfortable with:
wpforms_process_complete
wpforms_entry_meta_add
wpforms_entry_fields
Writing custom PHP in a child theme’s [login to view URL] or a custom plugin
2. Restrict Form Access to Logged-In Users
Users should not be able to view or submit the form unless they are logged in.
Acceptable solutions include:
A custom PHP function that checks login status and redirects non-logged-in users.
Implementing WPForms "Require Login" (if using WPForms Pro) with fallback validation.
Using wp_login_url( get_permalink() ) to redirect visitors to the login page with a proper return URL.
Requirements:
Non-logged-in users must be automatically redirected to the login page.
Logged-in users must have full access to the form.
The solution must not conflict with caching or membership plugins.
Additional Information
WordPress and WPForms are already installed.
All custom code should be added through either:
A small site-specific plugin (preferred), or
A child theme [login to view URL] file
Code must be clean, well-commented, and easy to maintain.
No heavy plugins or unnecessary dependencies.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal developer will have:
Strong PHP and WordPress experience
Familiarity with WPForms hooks and entry meta APIs
Experience with login restrictions, conditional form display, and secure form handling
A track record of clean, efficient coding practices
Experience with sequential numbering systems or similar form customizations is a plus." (client-provided description)
