Location: Melbourne, Australia
Budget: Recommended by industry experts
Time to start: As soon as possible
Project description:
"I need a rule-based AI engine that can read my hand-generated steel-fabrication sketches, recognise every dimension and note, and turn them into fully editable AutoCAD drawings ready for issue for construction. While doing so, the system must cross-check each member against Australian Standards—AS 4100 for structural steel and AS 1657 for platforms, handrails and staircases—and flag any non-conformities or optimisation opportunities.
The ideal workflow is simple: I drop a PDF or photo of a sketch into the interface, the engine interprets the geometry, applies the standards-rule library, and produces a native .dwg file complete with layers, blocks and our title block. Alongside the drawing it should generate a short compliance report listing any breaches and suggested fixes so my detailers can adjust before release.
Deliverables
• Rule-based interpretation engine (source code—Python/OpenCV or similar)
• Extensible standards-rule library for AS 4100 & AS 1657
• AutoCAD drawing generator with template files
• Mobile App with integration to Lightweight desktop or web UI with rule-editing capability
• Sample output from two of my test sketches, each passing an independent engineering check
Acceptance criteria: the tool must install on Windows 11 and IOS, run offline, and create drawings and reports that meet a chartered engineer’s audit.
Please include a detailed project proposal that walks me through your planned architecture, technology choices, timeline, and any relevant experience automating CAD or ensuring Australian Standards compliance." (client-provided description)
