Project description:
"I’m building a native utility that can quietly sit in the background of corporate devices, capture incoming SMS/calls, and forward them through my own API or carrier codes. Reliability and rock-solid permission handling are crucial because the APK will be sideloaded—not published on Google Play—so every permission prompt, foreground service, and battery-optimisation exemption has to be airtight.
What the finished app must do
• Run a persistent foreground service that survives Doze and OEM battery killers.
• Read, display, and keep the local inbox in sync while forwarding each incoming SMS to a REST endpoint I will provide.
• Accept JSON POST requests from that same API and dispatch outbound SMS.
• Initiate carrier-level call forwarding (MMI codes via TelephonyManager) and optionally disable/enable it from the UI.
• Handle dual-SIM logic gracefully, choosing the correct subscription ID for both SMS and call functions.
Core tech you’ll be working with
SmsManager, BroadcastReceiver, TelephonyManager, CallRedirectionService, JobScheduler/WorkManager for redundancy, and foreground services written in Kotlin or Java—your choice as long as it follows modern Android best practices.
What I need from you in your proposal
1. Links or APKs of past projects that show real-world experience with SMS or telephony APIs.
2. Your preferred stack (Kotlin or Java) and any libraries you rely on for background execution or network calls.
I’ll share the exact API contract and UI mock-ups once we start. If you have proven tricks to keep background services alive on Android 11+, I’d love to hear them." (client-provided description)
