"I want a lightweight Windows application that sits quietly in the background yet always stays on top of whatever I’m doing, showing real-time, colour-coded bars for the three things I care about most:

• GPU usage with its current latency
• CPU usage alongside live FPS
• RAM usage with associated latency

Because this is for general system monitoring, the program has to be efficient—no noticeable impact on the very resources it is measuring. Think of something similar to the RivaTuner overlay, but stripped down to simple bars that shift from green to yellow to red as they cross user-defined thresholds.

Core requirements
– Overlay must work on Windows 10 and 11, auto-detect the active window, and remain readable on both 1080p and high-DPI screens.
– Update rate should be at least every 500 ms while adding under 1 % CPU load on an 8-core machine.
– Metrics have to line up with Task Manager within ±2 %.
– A small settings panel should let me pick which metrics appear, adjust colour thresholds, change refresh rate, and toggle the overlay.
– Deliver a compiled installer plus well-commented source (C#, C++ or another Windows-friendly language). Use only publicly available libraries—WMI, Performance Counters, or OpenHardwareMonitorLib are all acceptable.
