"My in-house CRM runs on Apache Tomcat with pure JSP/Servlet pages, and now it has to send emails automatically. The triggers are clear: when a new row is added, when an existing row is updated, and when a scheduled date/time stored in a column arrives. As soon as any of those events fire, the system must pick the right HTML template, merge in the record data, and dispatch the message.

The current stack is Java 8 on Tomcat 9 with standard DAO classes, so the solution should slot straight in—ideally using JavaMail or another lightweight library that lets me swap between Gmail, Outlook, or any SMTP server through a simple config change. Hard-coded settings are a no-go; I need a properties file (or table) that holds host, port, credentials, and default “from” address.

Acceptance criteria
• Java utility class(es) integrated at the persistence layer to handle the three trigger types, tested for performance.
• Externalised configuration for SMTP details and default sender.
• Sample JSP page that invokes the mailer for manual testing.
• README covering setup, jar placement, and any environment variables.
• End-to-end test proof on Tomcat 9.
