"Our cinema-review site (horromovies and thrillers) has been running on WordPress for more than a decade and now holds several thousand articles. Age is starting to show in two areas: the admin dashboard has become painfully slow and parts of our original theme still carry legacy PHP that was never fully cleaned up.

What I need
• A thorough code audit focused on the admin side. Legacy files and functions should be refactored so that page loads, content uploads, and general navigation inside wp-admin feel snappy again.
• Removal—or proper rewriting—of the early theme code. It “works” today, yet I know it could be far leaner and future-proof.

Typical tools you might use—Query Monitor, WP-CLI, Lighthouse, object caching, or database optimizers—are all fine; feel free to bring your own preferred stack as long as the end result is faster execution and cleaner PHP.
