Location: United States

Budget: Recommended by industry experts

Time to start: As soon as possible

Project description:
"Summary
We have an existing e-commerce website for a jewelry brand ([login to view URL]) that uses Snipcart 2.0 for checkout. The website has been running for years without issues, but as of this week, Snipcart is rejecting products during checkout, showing this error:

“It looks like this item is not available anymore… This may be a configuration problem.”

Snipcart’s Developer Logs show repeated failures like:

Impossible to validate items for order.
Validating item with id 'ear-1398-g' located at '/fashionjewelry/earrings/[login to view URL]'
Could not get the shipping rates from UpsOAuth.

We have already confirmed:

Product URLs load correctly (200 OK)
Snipcart buttons have correct data-item-id / data-item-url
Domain settings in Snipcart are correct (www + non-www)
HTTPS is working
HTML markup is valid
The product page is reachable from server-side clients (WebSniffer test)

Despite this, Snipcart’s validator still rejects items.
Snipcart and Bluehost both claim the issue is not on their side, so we need a developer who truly understands Snipcart’s validation rules and backend behavior to diagnose and fix the root cause.

What We Need From You

We need a developer who can quickly identify and fix the Snipcart validation failure. This is a production site and our client is losing sales, so speed is important.

Your tasks will include:

Investigate why Snipcart cannot validate product URLs
Verify domain, canonical URL, and item URL consistency
Check for hosting-level issues (Nginx/Apache rules, caching, MIME types, redirects, blocked headers, etc.)
Ensure Snipcart’s script loads correctly and matches the domain
Resolve any mismatch between product metadata and Snipcart’s expected structure
Check shipping rate failures (UPS OAuth)
Provide a clear explanation of the issue and the fix

Ideal Skills

You should have experience with:

Snipcart (version 2.0 preferred; 3.0 is OK)
HTML/JS e-commerce integrations
Static site or lightweight custom sites
Knowledge of backend validation, redirects, server headers
Ability to debug server responses and crawler validation
Understanding of hosting quirks (Bluehost, Nginx, Apache)
Ability to diagnose quickly and solve efficiently
If you’ve fixed Snipcart or static-site checkout problems before, we definitely want you.

Environment / Access You’ll Receive

FTP or hosting access (as needed)
Access to Snipcart dashboard & Developer Logs
Product URLs and test pages
Any logs or screenshots you need from us

Timeline
We need someone who can start immediately and ideally fix this within 24–48 hours.
Same-day availability is strongly preferred.

Budget
Open to hourly or fixed price

*****This should be a small diagnostic/fix job. Please estimate how many hours you expect. I’d like to cap it at 5 hours unless we both agree to extend.”*****

To Apply:

When you apply, please include:

A short explanation of your Snipcart experience
Example(s) of any Snipcart integrations or similar work
When you can start and your estimated turnaround time
Your preferred rate (hourly or fixed)
We will hire fast." (client-provided description)
