Budget: Recommended by industry experts
Time to start: As soon as possible
Project description:
"We are seeking an experienced and skilled Full-Stack Developer or Development Team to design, develop, and launch a new cross-platform application and companion website for the cycling community.
This platform will serve as the "LinkedIn for bike riders," combining GPS ride tracking with a unique social networking and local discovery component.
Deliverables
Native Mobile Application: Full-featured app for both iOS and Android platforms.
Responsive Website: A clean, user-friendly, and responsive companion website for user profiles and content management.
Backend/API: Robust, scalable, and secure backend infrastructure to support real-time data, user profiles, and location services.
Core Features Required
1. GPS Ride Tracking & User Profile (Performance)
Distance/Route Tracking: Ability for logged-in users to start, stop, and record their ride using GPS. This must track distance (in miles/km), speed, and route map.
Profile Accumulation: Automatically register the miles/distance travelled under the logged-in user's profile to create a riding log and total distance count.
Ride History: A private log of all past rides with map view and statistics.
Data Sync: Integration with popular fitness wearables/devices (e.g., Strava, Garmin Connect) is a plus.
2. Social Networking (Connect)
User Profiles: Rich profiles allowing users to showcase their riding stats, photos, bike details, and personal bio.
Connections: "Follow" and "Friend" functionality similar to professional networking or social media sites.
Activity Feed: A dynamic feed to see and interact with posts, rides, and content from connected users.
Kudos/Comments: Standard interaction features on uploaded rides and posts.
3. Local Discovery & Community (Explore)
Point of Interest (POI) Database: A dedicated section for users to find and share:
Hidden Riding Spots/Trails: User-generated pins for trails, scenic routes, or specific road segments.
Small Local Eating Spots: Pins for bike-friendly cafes, restaurants, or food trucks near popular routes.
User-Generated Content: Ability for any logged-in user to easily suggest and pin a new spot on the map.
Rating System: A rating and review system for all submitted spots (e.g., 1-5 stars, with comments).
Search & Filtering: Robust search functionality to filter POIs by type (Trail, Cafe, etc.), rating, and proximity.
Technical Requirements (Preferred, but flexible)
Mobile: Native (Swift/Kotlin) or Cross-Platform (React Native / Flutter) for a high-quality user experience, especially for GPS tracking.
Backend: Scalable framework (e.g., Node.js, Python/Django, Ruby on Rails) with a reliable database (e.g., PostgreSQL).
Mapping: Experience with a robust map API (e.g., Google Maps SDK, Mapbox) for GPS and POI display.
