Project description:
"I’m putting together a 65-inch indoor information kiosk for rotating special events and need a dedicated app that opens full-screen and instantly gives visitors an intuitive, touch-driven way to find their way around.
Core experience
• The home screen should present an interactive venue map with clearly marked points of interest (booths, rooms, amenities, “You-Are-Here” marker, etc.).
• Visitors tap or pinch-zoom the map to explore, then select a point to see a short card with its name, description, photo or icon, and any time-sensitive notes.
• A highlighted path from the kiosk’s location to the chosen point appears, updating as the guest zooms or switches levels. Step-by-step text directions are helpful but the visual route is essential.
Content management
I swap floorplans and booth lists from event to event, so please build a lightweight admin method—CSV/JSON import or a small web dashboard—that lets me:
- Load a new background map (PNG/SVG/PDF)
- Define or edit points of interest with x-y coordinates, labels, icons, and optional categories
- Export/backup the dataset for future shows
Performance & environment
The kiosk’s hardware will be a commercial 65-inch touch display similar to the model in this reference: [login to view URL] It will operate entirely indoors, often with limited connectivity, so the app must run smoothly offline once the data is pre-loaded.
Deliverables
1. Compiled kiosk app ready to install (Android APK, Windows EXE, or Linux snap—please indicate your preferred stack).
2. Source code with clear build instructions.
3. Simple content-management utility or documented file structure for swapping maps and POI data.
4. One demo venue loaded so I can test navigation before we roll it out on site.
Acceptance criteria
• Touch gestures are fluid on a 65-inch screen.
• Map loads in under 3 seconds and remains responsive.
• Selecting any POI reliably displays its info and path.
• All data can be replaced without touching the code.
If you have past work on digital wayfinding, kiosk UX, or large-format touchscreen apps, I’d love to see it. Let’s create a smooth, visitor-friendly navigation experience for our upcoming events." (client-provided description)
