"Hi, I recently founded a small independent publishing house and am looking for a web designer to help me complete our website. I already have the domain and hosting set up through WordPress, and I’ve started building the site using a starter template. However, due to limited time, I’m looking for someone to continue the work and help bring the website to a clean, functional, and professional final version. The website does not need anything overly complex—just a solid, well-structured site suitable for a newly established publisher, with core pages such as Home, About, Books, Contact, Events, Submissions, Meet the Authors, Videos, and Support. For the initial phase, the website will feature around five authors, each with one or more books. This number will grow over time, so it’s important that the structure is scalable and easy to update as the publishing house develops. In terms of sales, I would like to sell books directly through the website (for example, using WooCommerce), while also linking to external platforms such as Amazon, Lulu, Instagram, and selected independent bookstores. The site will also include short video content, such as brief author interviews or short videos introducing specific books. If direct video embedding isn’t ideal, linking to YouTube or Vimeo is perfectly fine. For events, the website will list book launches, online or in-person author talks, interviews, and occasional seminars. At least in the beginning, no complex ticketing or payment system is needed—a simple event listing, with optional RSVP or external links, will be sufficient. Since this is a new and independent publishing house, my budget for the initial build is limited, so I’m looking for someone who can work efficiently and cost-effectively while helping establish a strong, professional foundation. I’m very open to suggestions on how to prioritize features so we can start simple and expand later, and I’d also be interested in ongoing support or occasional updates as the catalog and website grow.
