"We are looking for an experienced Upwork Agency Account Manager to take full ownership of our Upwork agency presence. The role is responsible for optimising the agency profile, managing bidding strategy, submitting proposals, improving win rates, and generating qualified leads consistently.
The ideal candidate understands how Upwork’s algorithm works, has proven experience winning projects for software development or technology services, and can operate independently with clear reporting and measurable outcomes.
This role is outcome-focused rather than task-based.

Key Responsibilities
1. Agency Profile Optimisation
• Review and optimise the Upwork agency profile for visibility, conversion, and credibility
• Improve agency overview, service descriptions, and positioning
• Optimise keywords to align with Upwork search and category ranking
• Advise on portfolio presentation, case studies, and testimonials
• Ensure the profile aligns with target clients such as startups and SMEs
2. Bidding Strategy and Proposal Management
• Develop and execute a structured bidding strategy aligned with our services
• Identify and shortlist relevant, high-quality projects daily
• Write and submit tailored, high-quality proposals (not generic templates)
• Optimise proposal structure, messaging, and call-to-action
• Manage connects efficiently to maximise ROI
• Track proposal performance and continuously refine approach
3. Lead Qualification and Opportunity Management
• Filter out low-quality, unrealistic, or poorly scoped projects
• Prioritise projects with strong budgets, clear scope, and long-term potential
• Engage with prospects professionally and respond to messages promptly
• Support early discovery conversations where required
• Flag high-value opportunities for direct founder involvement
4. Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement
• Monitor key performance metrics such as:
• Proposal response rate
• Interview rate
• Win rate
• Cost per lead
• Identify reasons for lost bids and suggest improvements
• Continuously test and refine bidding tactics and messaging
5. Reporting and Communication
• Provide a weekly summary covering:
• Number of bids submitted
• Interviews booked
• Projects won or in progress
• Insights and recommendations
• Maintain clear, professional communication
• Operate independently while keeping stakeholders informed

Required Experience and Skills
Essential
• Proven experience managing Upwork agency accounts
• Demonstrated success winning projects on Upwork
• Strong understanding of Upwork ranking, connects, and proposal best practices
• Excellent written English with a professional tone
• Experience in software development, IT services, SaaS, or technology consulting
• Ability to write persuasive, customised proposals
• Strong organisational and reporting skills
Desirable
• Experience working with startups or SMEs
• Knowledge of selling complex or bespoke services rather than commodity work
• Familiarity with long-term client acquisition strategies on Upwork
