Project description:
"We maintain a Java-based NIBSS NIP integration that relies on two web services for PGP encryption and decryption. The companion service is healthy, but the NIP-facing service suddenly began misbehaving on 12 / 05 / 2025 after running smoothly for seven years. Since that date we see outright encryption failures as well as sporadic communication errors, and on rare occasions the partner bank reports decryption problems on their side.
I need a seasoned Java developer who understands PGP internals and secure web-service plumbing to:
• reproduce the fault locally (I can provide logs, sample payloads, keystores, and the last known good tag)
• pinpoint the root cause—whether it is key corruption, library regression, JVM upgrade side-effect, or message framing issue
• deliver a clean, well-commented fix and a short deployment guide so my ops team can roll it straight to production
• supply a regression test or small utility that encrypts, decrypts, and verifies messages end-to-end so we can detect similar issues early
Acceptance is simple: after the patch, all outbound NIP messages must encrypt, sign, transmit, and decrypt without error for 72 hours in our staging loop while passing NIBSS validation scripts.
If you have deep PGP knowledge, can read Wireshark traces when necessary, and are comfortable tweaking Spring interceptors, I’d like to start as soon as you’re ready." (client-provided description)
