"The site is on Drupal 10 and needs a seamless “scan-to-field” workflow. A user presses the scan button on a network or USB scanner, chooses nothing else, and the resulting file appears inside a Drupal content form, already attached to its file field, ready for saving. The files in scope are PDFs and JPEGs; multi-page TIFFs are out-of-scope for now but future-proofing the code would be a plus.

During the hand-off from the scanner to Drupal, the system must automatically capture three pieces of metadata—Document type, Upload date, and User ID—and map them to existing Drupal fields. Once saved, every document should be organized in the CMS by its upload date (e.g., year/month folders or a date-based entity reference—whichever method you recommend that keeps things tidy and performant).

Deliverables
• A Drupal 10 custom module (or well-curated combination of contributed modules and custom glue code) that:
 – Detects the scanner via TWAIN, WIA, or an equivalent browser-friendly API
 – Converts scans to PDF/JPEG when needed and streams them directly into Drupal file fields
 – Writes the three metadata values to their corresponding fields
 – Stores/organises documents by upload date
• Clear install & config documentation, plus a short demo video or screenshare walk-through
• Source pushed to a private Git repository with commit messages that explain the logic

Acceptance criteria
1. A non-privileged site editor can scan a document and see it auto-attached to the node without downloading or re-uploading files.
2. Metadata is visible in the correct Drupal fields right after the scan.
3. Files land in a date-based folder structure or entity grouping that matches the spec.
4. Code passes Drupal 10 coding standards and installs cleanly in a Drupal 10 instance.
