"PROJECT DESCRIPTION

I’m looking for a senior Android framework / AOSP developer to build a custom Android ROM for Pixel 8a (akita) where only an external USB UVC camera is visible to the system and all apps.

This is not an app-level task.
The solution must be implemented at framework / CameraService / provider level, with no hacks or app modifications.

CORE REQUIREMENTS (FIXED SCOPE)
Camera behavior

Only external USB UVC camera exposed

All internal / physical cameras fully hidden

No legacy or internal camera provider registered

No fallback to internal sensors under any condition

Camera mapping

Camera 0 → BACK

Camera 1 → FRONT

Mapping must be deterministic across reboots
(not dependent on /dev/videoX order; use stable device identity such as USB serial / topology / VID+PID)

App compatibility

Stock Camera app must open the external camera

Any app using Camera2 API must only see Camera 0 and 1

Platform & integrity

Pixel 8a (akita)

Android 15 or 16

AOSP / LineageOS / crDroid acceptable

Play Integrity must remain intact

No vendor blob modification hacks

No permission popups for USB camera (auto-granted for system/user apps)

The milestone is released only if:

dumpsys [login to view URL] shows only Camera 0 and Camera 1

lshal shows no legacy/internal camera provider

Stock Camera app opens the external camera successfully

External UVC camera works reliably

Play Integrity passes
