"I need a clean-coded Android application that lets users create an account, sign in securely, and receive real-time push notifications. The UI can stay minimal for now—I’m more interested in seeing solid implementation of the authentication flow (email/password or phone, whichever is faster for you) and a reliable notification setup that works even when the app is in the background.

Here’s what I expect at hand-off:
• Full Android Studio project with Kotlin code (Java is fine if that speeds development).
• Firebase or an equally simple backend already wired for user auth and push notifications.
• A concise README explaining how to build, run, and switch the notification sender keys.
• APK for quick testing on my device.

Once I can install the APK, register, log in, log out, and see a sample notification arrive, I’ll consider the milestone complete. If this goes smoothly, we can expand the app with more screens and payment integration next." (client-provided description)
