"Project: Android Camera Framework – External UVC Only (Pixel 8a / Android 16)

Build type: Custom ROM, flashable ZIP
Objective (must work exactly as described)
The system must expose ONLY ONE external USB UVC camera to applications.
Required behavior:
Internal cameras must be hidden or unusable for apps
The system must expose exactly two logical camera IDs:
Camera ID 0 → BACK
Camera ID 1 → FRONT
Both logical cameras must be backed by the same external UVC camera
The stock Camera app must work correctly
Applications must behave as if no internal cameras exist
This is a functional requirement. Partial results are not acceptable.
Accepted Technical Approach
To reduce complexity and cost, the following approaches are explicitly allowed:
Framework-level changes in CameraService / CameraProviderManager
Runtime techniques using Magisk, Zygisk, or LSPosed
A mixed framework + runtime solution
Vendor and HAL components must remain untouched.
Magisk / module maintenance will be handled by me.
Not Allowed
No [login to view URL] or HAL blob modifications
No irreversible AVB or system signature breaking
No keymaster or keystore modifications
Play Integrity does not need to be permanently guaranteed, but the solution must remain recoverable.
