"I want to launch a browser-based social networking platform whose first release focuses squarely on a fast, reliable messaging system. Users must be able to sign up, log in, find other members, and exchange messages in real time from any modern desktop or mobile browser.

The scope for now is limited to that messaging core: one-to-one chat, basic conversation history, and standard privacy controls. I don’t need a news feed or other content streams yet, but the codebase should be clean and modular so those features could be added later without a rewrite.

I’m open on the tech stack as long as it is widely supported and maintainable; popular choices like React, Vue, [login to view URL] or similar on the front end and Node, Django, Laravel, or comparable frameworks on the back end are all fine. Please outline the stack you prefer and why.
