"I have a lightweight, mobile-first portal that lets small businesses spin up checkout links and see incoming orders in seconds. The core logic is already in place and working; what I now need is a focused round of backend polish.

Your main task will be to tighten the entire login and sign-up flow so users can choose either the classic email-and-password route or enjoy the convenience of magic links. The underlying endpoints exist, but they need hardening, clearer error responses, and a smoother hand-off back to the frontend screens. If you prefer working with JWT, session cookies, or a service such as Firebase, Supabase, or Auth0, I’m open to whichever option you think pairs best with a slim React/Next-style frontend.

Inside the order module I only lack one feature: real-time (or near real-time) notifications when new orders hit the system. Whether you wire this through WebSockets, Server-Sent Events, or a simple polling strategy, the result should be timely alerts that feel instantaneous on mobile.

Along the way I’d like a thoughtful pass of code refactoring so the existing controllers, helpers, and tests are cleaner and more maintainable. If you spot small UI fixes that will sharpen the experience, feel free to include them—visual polish is a welcome bonus but not a blocker for go-live.

I’ll consider the job complete once:
• users can sign up and log in with either method, receiving clear success and failure feedback
• new orders trigger reliable notifications to logged-in users
• the refactored codebase is lint-clean, well-commented, and passes the existing test suite
