"I need help shaving noticeable lag from the backend of my social-ecommerce app. Right now two endpoints are dragging their feet—loading user profiles and fetching product listings—and the slow-response times are starting to hurt engagement.

You’ll start by profiling the current code path, database queries and any external calls so we know exactly where the latency lives. From there I’m expecting targeted fixes: query or index tweaks, smarter caching, and any lightweight refactors that let the API answer quickly without changing its contract.

Deliverables
• Reduce median response time for both endpoints to an acceptable sub-second range (please outline the exact benchmark you can commit to after the initial review).
• Brief summary of what was changed (code comments + a short report).
• Clean, tested code committed via Git so I can review a diff and deploy confidently.
