"Our browser-based, text-driven MMORPG is still sitting on a legacy PHP 7 codebase with no underlying framework and zero automated tests. My immediate goal is to modernise everything to PHP 8, spin it up on our current hosting account, and prove that the game runs end-to-end—including its payment gateways, social-media login flow, and a handful of custom API calls.

Once the upgrade is stable and deployable, I expect a steady stream of follow-on tasks: refactoring legacy modules, tightening security, maybe introducing tests or lightweight CI, and adding new game features. Think of this first milestone as the gateway to an ongoing collaboration.

Acceptance criteria for the opening milestone:
• Entire codebase executes without PHP 8 deprecation or fatal errors
• Game loads on the live server, with payments, social logins, and custom APIs fully functional
• Clear setup/ deploy notes so I can recreate the environment from scratch
