"Smart Locker Backend Developer
Project Overview
We are building a smart locker system designed for large-scale deployment in Riyadh. The system integrates dual cameras (QR scanning + internal monitoring), smart locks, LED indicators, and cloud storage. The hardware is based on Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (CM4102008) and will connect via Wi‑Fi.
You will be responsible for backend development, API architecture, and cloud integration. The front-end, hardware assembly, and business operations will be handled in-house.
Responsibilities
Design and implement backend services to manage:
QR code scanning verification
Lock control (trigger via API)
Camera recording and cloud uploads
Status monitoring (LED indicators, logs)
Create secure REST APIs / WebSockets for mobile app and hardware integration
Implement cloud storage for recorded clips (e.g., AWS S3, Firebase, or custom server)
Optimize system for scalability (hundreds/thousands of lockers)
Develop admin dashboard backend for monitoring and management
Implement basic security layers (JWT auth, encryption for data in transit)
Provide documentation and handover for smooth future maintenance
Required Skills
Strong experience with Python (Django / FastAPI / Flask)
Expertise in Raspberry Pi / CM4 and camera APIs (libcamera, picamera2)
Proficient in cloud services (AWS / Firebase / Google Cloud)
Experience with RESTful API development and WebSockets
Knowledge of IoT device communication protocols (MQTT optional)
Familiarity with SQL / NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Firebase Realtime DB)
Understanding of basic cybersecurity practices (secure API endpoints, token auth)
Version control (GitHub) and CI/CD workflows
Strong communication and ability to document code
Milestones
Milestone 1 – Backend Architecture & API Design (20%)
Deliver system architecture diagram
Define API endpoints (QR, locks, cameras, status)
Database schema and cloud storage plan
Basic documentation
Milestone 2 – QR Code & Lock Control API (20%)
Implement QR code verification workflow
Lock control via GPIO triggers (through API)
Basic test with hardware prototype
Milestone 3 – Camera Integration & Cloud Upload (20%)
Integrate dual camera feeds (QR + internal)
Trigger recording on events (QR success or lock open)
Upload clips to cloud storage with metadata
Milestone 4 – Monitoring & Admin Features (20%)
API for status logs (locker usage, errors)
Backend for LED indicators and health check
Basic admin panel (API-based)
Milestone 5 – Testing, Optimization & Documentation (20%)
Stress test for multiple lockers
Optimize cloud usage & storage costs
Final documentation (API + architecture + deployment)
