Project description:
"We need a skilled developer to use Tekla Open API to automate the modeling processes, specifically for steel detailing. The primary task to be automated is generating detailed drawings for concrete forms. These are used to pour concrete in them for foundations. Create a Tekla Open API GUI with parameters like height, width, length and joints. Here is the parameter list:
1. Core Dimensional Parameters:
-Form Length (X-Dimension):
Detail: Primary dimension of the form. Common sizes mentioned: 8ft, 10ft, 12ft. Likely needs to be variable for custom designs.
Range: 8ft - 12ft (initial focus), potentially wider range for future development.
Importance: High - fundamental to the design.
-Form Width (Y-Dimension): (Often implied alongside length)
Detail: Secondary dimension. Likely tied to the length for standard ratios.
Range: Dependent on Length, likely 8ft - 12ft.
Importance: High – fundamental to the design.
-Form Height (Z-Dimension/Wall Thickness):
Detail: Thickness of the concrete wall. Variable, impacting structural requirements and form strength.
Range: Not specified, needs investigation. Likely a range of standard thicknesses (e.g., 6", 8", 10").
Importance: Medium-High – impacts structural calculations and material selection.
2. Joint Detail Parameters (Highly Variable):
-Joint Type:
Detail: Different types of joints (e.g., construction joint, expansion joint). Significantly impacts form design and reinforcement requirements.
Range: Multiple types, needs investigation (e.g., Butt Joint, Lap Joint, Tongue & Groove).
Importance: High – critical for structural integrity and state compliance.
-Joint Spacing:
Detail: Distance between joints. Impacts form complexity and reinforcement needs.
Range: Variable, dependent on joint type and structural requirements.
Importance: Medium-High – impacts form complexity and reinforcement needs.
-Joint Reinforcement Details: (Bar size, spacing, type)
Detail: Specific details of reinforcement around joints. Highly variable and state-dependent.
Range: Multiple options, needs investigation (e.g., Rebar size #4, #5, spacing 12", 18").
Importance: High – critical for structural integrity and state compliance.
For the initial engagement (this posting) we are proving the feasibility of this task by creating simplified demonstration of the technology and work flow. So using Tekla API you will be generating a simplified form with joints that takes in those parameters to generate the structure.
For the second engagement (future posting) we will be recreating a high quality form in tekla using the open API with those adjustable parameters. We already have the form with the optimizations and safety, we need it recreated with the API and able to adjust those parameters to create additional models.
For the final engagement (future posting) we will be implement more parameters and logic to make it more useful and realistic.
Key Requirements:
- Proficiency in Tekla Structures and its Open API
- Experience in automating tasks within Tekla, particularly in steel detailing
- Strong programming skills, preferably in C# or Python
- Ability to deliver accurate and efficient automation solutions
- Familiarity with detailed drawing requirements and standards in steel detailing
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Previous projects involving Tekla Open API
- Background in structural engineering or a related field
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Able to implement logic and conditional into the parametric generations of simple tekla models
Please provide examples of similar work done and your approach to this task." (client-provided description)
