"We are seeking a freelance WordPress developer to support us on an as-needed basis with technical maintenance and updates to our existing website, which was originally developed by a third-party agency. Responsibilities include performing monthly plugin checks and updates, reviewing and modifying custom code (PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript) as needed, troubleshooting issues within the current theme or plugin setup, and implementing small changes without impacting the site’s core functionality.

Responsibilities
• Review and understand the existing custom WordPress setup (theme, plugins, structure).
• Make specific updates, bug fixes, or enhancements based on provided tasks.
• Modify or extend current themes and plugins without breaking functionality.
• Implement PHP/JavaScript-based changes as required.
• Test updates on staging environments before live deployment.
• Respond within agreed-upon timeframes when support is requested.

Required Skills
• Solid experience in WordPress development (3+ years).
• Strong proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL.
• Experience with custom themes and plugin development.
• Familiarity with version control (Git).
• Ability to work independently and troubleshoot legacy code.
• Comfortable using staging environments and working with technical briefs.

Nice to Have
• Experience with Gutenberg and modern JavaScript (React).
• Familiarity with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
• Understanding of basic deployment workflows and best practices.

Engagement Details
