Project description:
"We’re looking for an embedded‑firmware specialist to bring our DC fast‑charger controller to life. You will integrate a Chargebyte PLC Stamp Micro 2 (QCA7000‑based HomePlug Green PHY™ module) with an ESP32‑S3 over SPI and complete the full ISO 15118 communication stack:
ISO 15118‑3 (SLAC) – layer‑1 “link” establishment
ISO 15118‑2 (High‑Level Communication) – energy‐transfer negotiation and control
We provide two open‑source libraries as the starting point:
libslac → [[login to view URL]]
HLCV2G → [[login to view URL]]
Your role is to port, tailor, and optimise these libraries for the ESP32‑S3, close any functional gaps, and deliver production‑ready firmware that can execute a complete charging cycle with a real EV or simulator.
---
#### Your Core Responsibilities
1. Hardware bring‑up
Configure the PLC Stamp Micro in SPI Mode 3 (CPOL = 1, CPHA = 1) and verify reliable 8‑bit burst transfers up to the module’s 12 MHz limit.
Implement reset, bootstrap‑GPIO handling, and IRQ processing for the QCA7000.
2. Library integration & refactor
Adapt libslac and HLCV2G for the ESP32‑S3 tool‑chain (PlatformIO, FreeRTOS).
Optimise buffer sizes, timing, and task priorities to meet real‑time requirements and watchdog constraints.
3. ISO‑conformant protocol flow
Achieve deterministic SLAC pairing and then run the full HLC state machine until power delivery is authorised and terminated per ISO 15118.
Gracefully handle error paths, reconnects, and edge cases (e.g., failed SLAC, renegotiation, PLC link loss).
4. Validation & test automation
Prove interoperability with at least one commercial EVCC simulator and (optionally) a real vehicle.
Supply reproducible test logs, Wireshark captures, and a simple host script for automated regression.
5. Documentation & hand‑off
Produce wiring diagrams, flashing instructions, and an integration guide for other firmware teams.
Comment code thoroughly and follow MISRA‑lite or equivalent style guidelines.
---
#### Deliverables
| Item | Description |
| ---------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| PlatformIO project | Full sources, CMake/INI files, and pre‑configured partitions for OTA. |
| Unit & integration tests | Host‑side Python scripts or Unity/Catch2 tests covering SLAC & HLC flows. |
| Binary images | Signed, ready‑to‑flash `.bin` files for release and debug builds. |
| Technical dossier | PDF/Markdown docs covering architecture, timing diagrams, and known limitations. |
| Support window | Minimum two‑week post‑delivery window for bug fixes & Q/A. |
---
#### Must‑Have Skills
Strong C/C++ on ESP32 (ESP‑IDF or Arduino‑framework) and FreeRTOS task design.
Hands‑on SPI driver development and logic‑analyser debugging.
Prior work with HomePlug Green PHY / QCA7000 or similar PLC tech.
Deep understanding of ISO 15118 stacks, state machines, and EVSE compliance.
Familiarity with power‑electronics safety and EV charging norms is a plus.
---
#### Project Logistics
Hardware provided: ESP32‑S3 dev board, PLC Stamp Micro 2 module, coupling transformer, and optional EV simulator dongle.
Timeline: Target 8 – 10 weeks from kick‑off to acceptance testing.
Budget: Please propose a milestone‑based quote.
Collaboration tools: GitHub, weekly video stand‑ups, and a private Slack/Matrix channel.
Extra resources: If you need a ChatGPT Premium seat for faster iteration, we’re happy to supply one.
---
#### How to Apply
1. Briefly outline two relevant projects (preferably open‑source repos or customer references).
2. State your estimated schedule and the tooling you prefer (ESP‑IDF vs. Arduino, test bench, etc.).
3. Include your typical development PC environment and any special hardware you’ll need.
We review applications on a rolling basis and aim to shortlist within one week.
Looking forward to working with a fellow engineer who’s passionate about fast, reliable D" (client-provided description)
