Project description:
"I want to develop a software application dedicated to crop management that rolls three critical functions into one place: crop health monitoring, irrigation scheduling, and automated pest or disease identification. My goal is a clean, intuitive tool that lets farm staff open a browser or mobile app, log field data, and instantly see what needs attention on each plot.
Core scope
• Crop health monitoring – visual dashboards that track growth stages, NDVI-style indices if satellite feeds are available, and colour-coded alerts when readings stray from target ranges.
• Irrigation management – a calendar or rule-based engine that takes soil-moisture-level inputs (manual entry to start, sensor API-ready for future upgrades) and generates water plans, plus push/email reminders.
• Pest & disease identification – pattern-matching or rule-based lookup that compares user-submitted images/notes against a knowledge base and flags likely threats with recommended actions.
Tech expectations
I’m flexible on stack, though a modern web framework (Python + Django/FastAPI, Node.js, or similar) paired with a lightweight React/Vue front-end and a responsive mobile wrapper would suit the connectivity limits common in rural areas. The database should be PostgreSQL or another open-source option, and code needs to be clean, commented, and handed over in a public or private repo of my choosing.
Deliverables
1. Full source code with install/run instructions.
2. Deployed demo (cloud or local VM image) showing all three features working with sample data.
3. Brief user guide and API documentation for future sensor integrations.
4. Two refinement rounds after initial hand-off to polish UX and fix bugs.
Acceptance criteria
• Each feature is accessible behind a secure login and performs within five seconds on standard 4G.
• Dashboards update correctly when new field data is entered.
• Irrigation module produces schedules that can be exported to CSV/PDF.
• Pest/disease tool returns an identification or “unknown” message for every submitted image without crashing.
Timeline is negotiable, but I’d prefer to see a functioning MVP within four weeks so the farm team can trial it before the next planting cycle." (client-provided description)
