Project description:
"I’m ready to retire our ageing Microsoft Access system (about 20 k records) and move everything to a modern, server-based stack. The first milestone is a clean migration of the data into SQL Server—unless you can justify an equally reliable alternative that keeps maintenance light and performance strong.
Once the data sits safely in its new home, I need a lightweight browser interface. It only has to do what our current Access forms handle, but far more smoothly:
• Secure sign-in with three roles—Admin, Support, and User—each seeing only what they should.
• Fast dropdown filters and type-ahead search across key fields.
• Ad-hoc reports that staff can generate on demand, with a “print overview” layout good enough to drop straight into a meeting pack.
• A small Xero touch-point via their API to pull or push the minimal data we currently sync.
I’d like this built with a framework you’re confident will still be mainstream in five years (ASP.NET Core, Django, Node + Express—convince me). Whichever path you propose, include automated migrations, clear README-style setup notes, and a simple deployment script so we can spin up a test instance internally.
Deliverables
1. Migrated and validated SQL schema with data.
2. Source-controlled web app covering all features above.
3. Brief technical documentation and user guide.
4. Walk-through session demonstrating deployment, role management, and report generation.
A smooth experience for our end users and maintainers is top priority; stability beats flashy UI. If this sounds like your kind of project, let’s discuss your stack recommendation and timeline." (client-provided description)
