"A small but annoying bug has crept into my checkout flow: when the gateway flags a transaction as failed, the user never sees the failure message and our admin panel shows no alert. Successful payments move through perfectly, so the logic is already in place—only the failed-transaction notification path is broken.

I’ll give you access to the existing codebase plus a test merchant account so you can reproduce the problem. Your job is to trace the callback / webhook (or equivalent) that carries the “failed” status, correct whatever is swallowing or mis-routing that response, and confirm that users, admins, and logs all show the proper failure message after your fix.

Deliverables
• Patched code or clear pull request with comments
• Evidence of a test run showing both a success and a failed payment, with the latter generating the correct notification
• One-paragraph summary of what was changed and why
